Prayer with the Missouri Governor
May
, 2007
Prayer Leaders from the state of Missouri were invited
by Tom and Mary Ann Otley, Missouri’s National
Day of Prayer Leaders, to pray with Missouri’s
Governor Matt Blunt. We gathered in the Governor’s
office where he graciously invited us to sit down with
him around his table. He asked us to share what was
going on in Missouri in the area of corporate prayer.
He was very interested in the reports of answers to
prayer and prayer initiatives we are presently involved
in. Reports were given by the Missouri Baptist Association,
the Assemblies of God, a prayer ministry in St. Louis,
and Missouri Prayer Global Apostolic Prayer Network.

Missouri Prayer Leadership with
Governor Matt Blunt
|
Regina Shank shared that we had taken the liberty to
change the state logo from the “show me”
state to the “show me your Glory state”
out of Exodus 33. She asked if we could get all the
old logos changed. After the laughter subsided, the
Governor answered that he wasn't’t sure that was
possible.
After every ministry shared about the power of prayer
and the answers we are seeing, each person prayed from
their heart for the state, the leadership, and for the
gospel of Jesus Christ to be presented to each man,
woman, and child. This was the Governor’s first
prayer request.
We are so appreciative of the opportunity to pray with
our state leadership. Please continue to pray for Godly
leaders in positions of authority!
Prayer for Missouri
Governor Matt Blunt
Who is Governor Matt Blunt, Lord God, and what is his
family, that you have brought him to this place in life?
But that's nothing compared to what's coming, for you
have also spoken of a future and a hope for him. Give
him a glimpse into tomorrow, Lord God, so that He will
have no fear of change, being full of salvation, wisdom,
and knowledge: the fear of the Lord is his wealth. You
know his beginnings and his end. You set him apart and
appointed him for such a time as this. We pray that
he doesn't lose sight of Your Words and Your purpose
for his life. Let them penetrate deep within his heart.
Be his strength every morning, his aid, his victory,
his help in time of trouble. Guide him as he walks out
your plan for his life; And at his back, when he turns
to the right or to the left, Your voice will be sounding
in his ears, saying, "This is the way in which
you are to go."
May Governor Blunt remain a person of integrity, who
speaks the truth from, a pure heart, and hungers for
righteousness.
Heavenly Father, fulfill the work of your hand. Who
knows? Maybe he was made Governor for such a time as
this. May the activities of your servant Governor Blunt
remain sure and solid in your watchful presence. We
pray that he would not assume that he knows it all,
but would run to You and run from evil! Surround him
with wise counsel, for by a lack of counsel purposes
are frustrated; but in the multitude of counselors they
are established. And now, Lord God, being the God you
are, speaking sure words as you do, and having declared
Your wonderful plan to Governor Blunt, grant one more
request: Bless abundantly his wife Melanie: May she
always be clothed with strength and dignity and his
son William: May all be well with him and may he have
long life upon this earth. May he be a fruitful vine
in his parent's home. Keep your watchful eye on them
always. Oh, may Your blessing be on this family forever!
We ask this in the name of Your son Jesus, Amen.

House of Representatives, on the occasion of the National
Day of Prayer Proclamation signing - April 13, 2005)

Missouri Prayer State Conference
November 10-11, 2006
Missouri is coming out of the trauma of the past and
stepping into an expectation of an outpouring of the
glory of God. Our history does not have to define our
future. Although we have been abandoned, orphaned, and
traumatized by a history that cannot be denied, we serve
a loving Father who has turned our mourning into joy
because we have received His embrace and healing.
At our state conference, this blessing of the Father’s
love and compassion was imparted through worship, dance,
and apostolic fathers who spoke and modeled fatherhood.
Apostle Alan Koch, Missouri Apostolic Council member
and Pastor of Christ Triumphant Church, spoke to us
about Restoring Model “A”, using the process
of restoration of an old vehicle as a picture of how
the Lord restores the fathering gift. The vehicle is
completely taken apart and inspected piece by piece,
some parts being replaced and some being repaired. Replacing
the “cracked head” is an important part
of the process. A restored vehicle is worth much more
than the original: $300.00 original price on a Model
“A” as compared to $40,000 to “priceless”
on the restored Model “A”.
Ivan Doxtator, founder, President, and Director of
First Nations Counseling Ministries (FNCM) spoke about
the apostolic authority of Native Americans in fathering
the land and in standing alongside the Body of Christ
for a corporate anointing. Historical issues of painful
broken covenants, stolen land, abuse, and violence from
early settlers and American governmental officials toward
the First Nations people opened eyes toward great injustice
in the land.
Bob Burton, prayer leader of Uninterrupted Prayer from
Branson, Steve Barlett, Citywide Prayer leader from
Lee’s Summit and Regina Shank, Missouri Prayer
spoke about prayer models and gave reports of what is
being done in Missouri to network prayer.
Apostle Steve Wilson, Missouri Prayer Apostolic Council
and Pastor of Dayspring Worship Center, Springfield,
spoke on the Fathering Gift. His notes are included
in this report. Many responded to the invitation to
come forward to receive impartation of the “spirit
of adoption” out of Romans 8:15 and/or release
into a call to “father” or “mother”
the next generation. Malachi 4:6 “And he will
restore the hearts of the fathers to their children,
and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest
I come and smite the land with a curse.”
Thank you for praying for the restoration of Model
“A” in the state of Missouri. Our thanks
goes to David Price and Pastor Kingsley Walker for leading
worship and to the Dayspring Worship Center Dancers
for their tremendous contribution. We also appreciate
the staff at Christ Triumphant for their assistance
with so many behind the scenes details.
Overview of the speakers is below:

of Will the Real Christians Please Stand Up, Regina
Shank, Missouri Prayer Global Mission will share on
Models of Prayer.
REPORT ON TRIP
TO LEE’S SUMMIT: “MO PRAYER STATE CONFERENCE:
SPONSORED BY MO STRATEGIC PRAYER NETWORK
I was there only in the afternoon of November 11, as
I was a speaker during that time.
Following is a summary of what I heard that day:
Steve Bartlett is the Director of the City Wide Prayer
Movement, Lee’s Summit, MO. He and I have communicated
briefly in the past, but this time we really got to
know one another. I am hopeful that there can be some
real synergy between the prayer movement there and the
UP Team, plus more partnering through Regina Shank’s
other prayer contacts.
Go to www.citywideprayernetwork.com. Their approach
is to use a computer-generated wall, and people sign
up for one or more half-hour “bricks.” The
strategy is to encourage people to sign up for times
when they know they are praying and to include the objectives
of the City Wide Prayer Movement.
Regina: “As I read Missouri history, I continue
to find accounts of abandoned, orphaned children that
were taken in by Missouri families. Some were taken
in and worked for their room and board; some were adopted
and received the family name, but knew they were taken
in, not because they were chosen and loved, but because
they could help with the family chores. Life was hard
in the early 1800’s and continued to be so for
many years. Another set of hands was valued, but rarely
were the heart and personality embraced as a son or
daughter to a loving father and mother. Suffice it to
say, Missouri needs deliverance from an orphan spirit,
a performance mentality, and a religious spirit that
drives us to try to please a Father who is already pleased.
Our background of fatherless homes, motherless childhood,
and performance-based acceptance delivers us into 2006
as broken and wounded children in need of a Father’s
blessing. This blessing is needed individually as well
as corporately. A loving Father’s absence or distance
leaves in its wake children who are searching for acceptance
wherever it can be found. The corporate Body of Christ
as been affected by this orphan spirit. Until the true
‘fathering gift’ is restored to the Church,
our wanderings will continue, our spirits will remain
closed, and rejection will continue to drive us toward
grasping for position and power rather than simply receiving
the Father’s love and walking humbly with Him.
Although we have been talking about Missouri, the Fathering
Gift must be restored to the entire Body of Christ.”
There was an emphasis on praying for a true “Spirit
of Intercession,” a “Birthing Spirit.”
There is a need to avoid legalism in any prayer commitments,
with emphasis more on quality than on quantity. A theme,
an objective for the increased intercession in Missouri
could be “Prepare ye the way of the Lord.”
Steve Bartlett noticed a lull in intercession 2-3 months
before the election.
As I was preparing to share about the UP Team, I noticed
a banner in the church that said “Thanks be to
God: 2 Corinthians 2: 14. So, I looked it up and shared
what is there: “Thanks be to God, who always leads
us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us
spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of
him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those
who are being saved and those who are perishing. To
the one we are the smell of death, to the other the
fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task?
Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for
profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God
with sincerity, like men sent from God.”
Steve Bartlett, Director of the Citywide Prayer Movement,
shared the following: In 1971 at Lighthouse Ranch in
northern California, many young people came by daily
and many of them found the Lord. There were daily miracles
of salvation. Some of these young former “hippies”
were later sent around the world as evangelists, teachers,
prophets, etc. 90% of the Church rejected them, because
they still had long hair, funny clothes, and so on.
In one nearby church, everyone left because of their
presence – except for the pastor and five people,
who were intercessors. Steve was part of the Lighthouse
Ranch experience. He also shared that once in Guatemala
he was in a church with ten elderly female intercessors
in front of him and ten behind him, all praying fervently.
He realized that it was people like them who were responsible
for the revival in that country. Three years later he
was in NYC, surrounded by Christians, and there was
little movement while there was great movement in other
countries. He heard from God, who said that the call
of committed Christian intercessors was to be the father/mother
of the next great generation – spiritually. This
requires having the Father’s heart, and that does
not come through head knowledge. God is sowing intercessors
as seed; and the seed will grow. There is a move of
God coming that we have never seen before. The key is
intercession. And intercession is also to benefit the
intercessors, to keep hearts right so that we do not
kill the babies; intercessors are like mothers and fathers
to new Christians. God wants to make the entire Church
mothers/fathers – to grow up, move from an immaturity
that expresses itself through division and being easily
offended. When a huge front door opens in the Church,
there needs not to be a huge back door through “religion.”
He went on to say that there is a strong religious spirit
in Missouri, primarily because of the Bible Belt. In
talking about the Citywide Prayer Movement, Steve shared
that it began with twelve intercessors from twelve churches
getting together and praying weekly. There are now about
345 people on the wall, taking at least a half-hour
for prayer. The web site also includes other Missouri
needs. (I hope to get the UP Team mentioned there.)
Regina Shank shared a story about Israel. She had asked
a lady some years ago to take a Missouri prayer proclamation
and a bottle of Missouri wine with her to Israel. She
asked her to read the proclamation aloud and pour the
wine out onto the ground. The lady did it near Mt. Zion
Hotel, near Mt. Zion. When she returned a couple of
years later, a group had begun a 24/7 prayer watch at
the hotel, in a space that once was a nightclub –
and the Hotel liked it, because it was less noisy! Regina
then applied Isaiah 62, to not only Israel but also
to the Church. Here is an excerpt: “For Zion’s
sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake
I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines
out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch.
The nations will see your righteousness, and all kings
your glory; you will be called by a new name that the
mouth of the Lord will bestow. You will be a crown of
splendor in the Lord’s hand, a royal diadem in
the hand of your God…I have posted watchmen on
your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day
or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves
no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem
and makes her the praise of the earth…The Lord
has made proclamation to the ends of the earth: ‘Say
to the Daughter of Zion, ‘See, your Savior comes!
See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies
him. They will be called the Holy People, the Redeemed
of the Lord; and you will be called Sought After, the
City No Longer Deserted.”
Things are happening in Missouri, in the Spirit.
Regina talked about “breakthrough prayer:”
When there is a stronghold in an area, there has to
be breakthrough prayer, plowing through prayer, to break
it. A team hits the target with prayer – praise,
song, intercession, etc., but focused on one need rather
than a shotgun approach. If the team gets unfocused,
the leader has the responsibility to bring them back
on target. They do this for 24 hours straight through,
with 12 targets, 2 hours for each target. Some intercessors
stay for all, some do not. Sometimes people are led
to do a “sleep fast” for this prayer, if
the Lord so leads. An analogy: When Israel took the
Golan Heights back from Syria, they used the “steel
punch” approach to take out mines. Tractors lined
up, one behind the other; when the front one hit a mine,
the next one pushed it aside and moved on. Regina is
willing to come to an area and lead breakthrough prayer,
or help with it. She has gone to several cities in Missouri,
probably about ten, and there have been breakthroughs
seen.
Missouri Prayer has been in existence since 1998, and
Regina has been the Director since 2000. There are about
1,200 people in the network. There was a prophecy of
“7 years of battle in the household of Saul in
Missouri;” that time is up in April of 2007. The
Saul system will fall, and there will be a new and powerful
presence of God. The Missouri Prayer network consists
of 10 regions; six of them have Regional Leaders. Eventually
there will be County Leaders, and so on. Regina has
a good relationship with the Missouri Chairperson of
the National Day of Prayer.
Regina is going to send a county breakdown of who voted
for and against Amendment 2, so that we will know how
to pray specifically for the future.
Prayer points from the Citywide Prayer Movement web
site: “The Spirit of God is releasing new revelation
from Missouri for worship in Spirit and truth and for
the apostolic foundation…to restore a dwelling
of God in the Spirit (quote from a prophetic word from
Kansas to Missouri that the foundations will be repaired
in this State in preparation for the building of a dwelling
of the Lord and the Lord’s Heart from the ‘heartland.’…Missouri
is called the “Show Me” State. Please pray
that the Lord will show us His ways, that we will walk
as Moses did in Exodus 33 – “Show me Your
glory” – that as a State we will know the
Truth, and the Truth will go forward with His Presence
going before us…Missouri is the physical “gateway
to the West.” Pray that we will be diligent to
our call as “gatekeeper”…Missouri
has been the headquarters for white supremacist groups.
Pray that racism will be eradicated…Please pray
for unity within the State…Pray that perversion
will not have a stronghold in Missouri, that we will
walk the “highway of holiness” and that
families, homes and relationships will be held together…Pray
for the harvest to come forth in Missouri, that every
person will have the opportunity to hear about the Kingdom
and that there be salvation through the Blood of Jesus…Pray
that the Body of Christ in Missouri will rise to their
calling, that the five fold ministry will come forth…Pray
that the “river of God” that flows from
His throne will flow through this State (Ezekiel 47)…We
made five foundational decisions for Missouri in strategic
locations as the Lord directed us: Decision one: Do
we want the programs of men or the Presence of God?
Decision 2: Do we want to walk independently of the
Lord, or to “abide in Him?” Decision 3:
Do we want the Spirit of Truth in our State or do we
want to walk in our deceptions? Decision 4: Do we want
to operate in the works of the flesh or by the fruit
of the Spirit? Decision 5: Do we want the kingdom of
man – manipulation, domination and control –
or do we want the kingdom of righteousness, peace, and
joy in the Holy Spirit?. Pray that these foundational
decisions will carry much weight in the Spirit, and
that, as in Isaiah 58, “The Lord will guide you
always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched
land…Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins…You
will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of
Streets and Dwellings.”
Conclusions: 1) The UP Team has as its mission that
God’s perfect will be done in Stone and Taney
County, Missouri. This focus must remain. 2) At the
same time, we are part of a larger effort, as seen in
the work of Missouri Prayer, the Citywide Prayer Movement,
and other prayer programs in Missouri. 3) Kenny Davis’
vision of the dome over the United States and its pillar
in Missouri (which I shared at the Conference) is to
me a clear confirmation that we must see ourselves as
part of a larger picture that involves all of Missouri
as important to national spiritual transformation. After
my presentation, a participant handed me a sheet of
paper, on which she had written: “Vision: Pillar
– I saw the word Injustice on the pillar. Then
the “In” faded, and “Justice”
was left (through the prayer of God’s people).
4) Our partnering with Polk and Cedar Counties (Humansville)
is an example of a broader scope. 5) I believe we have
some opportunities to more strongly partner with groups
like Citywide Prayer Movement and Missouri Prayer. I
will be pursuing this. 5) I believe a good example of
broader vision has been our prayer focus on MO election
issues – marriage amendment, casino gambling,
embryonic stem cell research.
Not Many
Fathers
By Steve Wilson
. Malachi 4:6 “And he will restore the hearts
of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of
the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite
the land with a curse.”
This is the last verse in the Old Testament and is
a prophetic promise which will be fulfilled. There is
to be in the last day’s a restoration of the spirit
of Elijah, a prophetic spirit that compels fathers to
emerge, turn toward the sons and a the same time draw
sons to align themselves again with the fathers.
When there is a breakdown in the relationship between
fathers and sons, it is a violation of God’s order
and as a result there is a curse on the land. The church
is in desperate need of fathers who know God and are
willing to take responsibility for the development and
training of the next generation, rather than concentrating
on their own development and ministry.
The fathers are the first to act. It is their hearts
that must be turned back toward the sons; in fact, according
to scripture, it was their responses that created the
division. By faith we want to rediscover the role of
spiritual fathers and see them begin to turn their hearts
toward their sons.
The restoration of real spiritual fathers is not just
the restoration of men but of paternity. In the Old
Testament fathers taught the children the things of
God. This model is the supporting structure of the people
that God is preparing for Himself. It is the fathers
and mothers that are responsible for the transmitting
of truth. (Acts. 15:14, Titus 2:14, I Peter 2:9-10)
I Corinthians 4:15 “For if you were to have countless
tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers;
for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the
gospel.”
Paidagoogos, a tutor (Latin paedagogus-a guide and
guardian of boys). Among the Greeks and Romans the name
was applied to trustworthy slaves who were charged with
the duty of supervising the life and morals of boys
belonging to the better class. The boys were not allowed
so much as to step out of the house without them before
arriving at the age of manhood. The name carries with
it an idea of severity (as a stern enforcer of morals)
in I Corinthians 4:15, the father is distinguished from
the tutor as one whose discipline is usually milder.
OT. Producer or generator, benevolence, protection
NT 3962, pater (from the root, pa;) literally, a father,
generator or male ancestor, nourisher, protector, upholder.
There are four primary applications of this word (Thayer):
The originator and transmitter of anything,
the author of a family or society of persons animated
by the same spirit as himself:
- One who has infused his own spirit into others,
who actuates and governs their minds
- One who stands in a father’s place and looks
after another in a paternal way
- Teachers, as those to whom pupils trace back the
knowledge and training they have received.
Each of the four parts of this definition form the
basis for the following statements about fathers:
Fathers set the tone for the people of God:
- The author of a family or society of person
animated by the same spirit as himself
|
- 2 Chronicles 34:2 “And he (Josiah) did
right in the sign of the Lord, and walked in
the ways of his father David and did not turn
aside to the right or to the left.”
|
- Jeremiah 31:29 “In those days they will
not say again, The fathers have eaten sour grapes,
and the children’s teeth are set on edge.”
|
- Fathers are long-term (even life-long) relationships
while nurturing and mentoring are short tem
for a purpose.
|
- Fathers are not required to have everything
that the son needs, but rather to provide an
atmosphere for growth and development.
|
Fathers Have the Right to Ask their Sons to Imitate
Their Behavior:
- One who has infused his own spirit into others,
who actuates and governs their minds.
|
- · I Corinthians 4:16 “I exhort
you therefore, be imitators of me.”
|
- I Corinthians 4:17 “For this reason
I have sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved
and faithful child in the Lord, and he will
remind you of my ways which are in Christ, just
as I teach everywhere in every church.
|
- Proverbs 4:1 “My children, listen to
me. Listen to your father’s instruction.
Pay attention and grow wise.”
|
- Fathers are consistent and stable in character.
|
- Fathers have learned to exercise spiritual
authority without control.
|
- · Fathers need to be secure enough
to let a son grow and develop even if his gift
is different from theirs.
|
Fathers Look After the Interests of Their Sons:
- One who stands in a father’s place and
looks after another in a paternal way.
|
- Fathers bring both encouragement and discipline.
|
- They are the son’s greatest champion:
Fathers believe in the son when no one else
does.
|
- Fathers have committed to pray for and carry
the burden or joy of their son’s success
or failure.
|
- Fathers have the right to correct: I Corinthians
4:14, “I do not write these things to
shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved
children.”
|
- Fathers love the son too much not to speak
the truth.
|
- Hebrews 12:11 “All discipline for the
moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful;
yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards
it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.
|
- Fathers will ask the hard questions and are
willing to go through the pain of making it
work.
|
- Fathers are willing to let a son make a mistake
knowing, that it is a part of growth.
|
Fathers are Deeply Committed to Fruitfulness:
- Teachers, as those to whom pupils trace back
the knowledge and training they have received
|
- Fathers are deeply committed to the next generation.
|
|
- Fathers are about establishing leaders
|
- Fathers are more interested in releasing others
than in doing it themselves.
|
- Fathers will work with the son to define
expectations and develop a plan to give accountability
where needed.

Missouri Capitol Rotunda Gathering
September 20, 2006
During the month of September, 2006, Missouri Prayer
Global Mission traveled around the Missouri border counties,
prayed over each county, and staked it for the Lordship
of Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 54:1-3 "Sing, O barren woman,
you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for
joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the
children of the desolate woman than of her who has a
husband," says the LORD. 2 "Enlarge the place
of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not
hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.3
For you will spread out to the right and to the left;
your descendants will dispossess nations and settle
in their desolate cities.
Pastor Kingsley Walker and James Nesbit of the St.
Louis region traveled to 23 counties on the east side
of the state, and Regina Shank and her team prayed over
the 23 counties on the west side of the state. At the
completion of this prayer journey, intercessors gathered
in the Missouri State Capitol Rotunda to pray for Missouri
and to stake the heart of the state, declaring the increase
of the government of the Lord.
Intercessors worshipped the Lord together in the Rotunda,
asking for the Presence of God in our governmental structures,
asking for Him to come to Missouri, to inhabit our borders,
our governmental sessions, our homes, our assigned territories.
As songs of worship resounded through the rotunda, the
Presence of God filled the spacious room. It is our
understanding that Missouri and Alaska are the only
two states allowed to hold Christian meetings in their
state capitol buildings or on the grounds. Regina Shank,
Missouri Prayer Apostolic Leader led the group in prayers
based on Psalms 91 and 139.
The prayer targets and scriptures are listed below.
Thanks to all who attended and to all who participated
with us from their homes and workplace. God is good;
Jesus is Lord; Missouri is choosing LIFE and the Presence
of God. Exodus 33!
Regina Shank, Missouri Prayer
Choices for LIFE
Genesis 2:7 the LORD God formed the man from the dust
of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath
of life, and the man became a living being.
Deut. 6:1-3 These are the commands, decrees and laws
the LORD your God directed me to teach you to observe
in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess,
so that you, your children and their children after
them may fear the LORD your God as long as you live
by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give
you, and so that you may enjoy long life. Hear, O Israel,
and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you

that the mouth of the LORD will bestow. You will be
a crown of splendor in the LORD's hand, a royal diadem
in the hand of your God. No longer will they call you
Deserted, or name your land Desolate. But you will be
called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; for the LORD
will take delight in you, and your land will be married.
As a young man marries a maiden, so will your sons marry
you;
as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your
God rejoice over you. I have posted watchmen on your

and those who gather the grapes will drink it in the
courts of my sanctuary." Pass through, pass through
the gates! Prepare the way for the people. Build up,

God, I will seek your prosperity. |
